CALL TO ACTION ITEM: Sea Otter Research and Recovery Act (H.R. 556/S. 1748)

The Southern Sea Otter Recovery and Research Act (S. 1748) was first introduced in the House in 2003 and would provide $5 million a year for five years to fund research pertaining to California sea otter health and recovery. Although this legislation passed the House in Summer 2009, it is still in the Senate for approval, and we therefore would like to encourage all of our members to write to their senators, urging them to sign the bill.

CALL TO ACTION ITEM:  Off-shore drilling
The tragedy unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico proves once again that offshore oil drilling poses a disastrous threat to our environment.  The out-of–control Deepwater Horizon spill makes a mockery of oil industry claims that such drilling is conducted in a safe and responsible fashion.
